MATERIAL: SWEDISH GREEN MARBLE, OAK EXHIBITED AT KONSTFACK SPRING EXHIBITION 2024 AS A PART OM MY GRADUATION PROJECT ”LONGING FOR FUTURE LIVING” SOLD
Graduation Project Description: A transformation of a former office building into modern housing, inspired by the 100-year history of the cooperative housing society HSB and its innovations, particularly while the firm was led by director and architect Sven Wallander. The residence, the former headquarters of HSB, is of great historical significance to the housing society and was designed by the architect in 1939. The project aims to honour Wallander’s commitment and innovations with experimental living while remaining in alignment with today’s housing stipulations. This will be achieved by studying Wallander’s personal ideologies and architecture alongside aspects of modern functionalist design.
This work strives to propose a modern housing system that is reflective of both historical and contemporary aesthetics, combining tradition and innovation in order to create a future-oriented living environment.
THE SWEDISH GREEN SERIES (2024)
To preserve what once was, New life and function are given to marble blocks that have lost their original purpose. The result is a furniture series where oak and aluminum strips work together to embrace and protect the swedish marble, while the three materials together connect to the era of functionalism.
This combination challenges the classic principles of the era with new expressions, in an attempt to both develop and preserve the historical heritage.
